about

Recluse, the only New Orleans natives present, departed from the drawn out gloom that encroached during the night and, instead, produced highly charged, concise moments. With the brevity of Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Nails, they took seconds-long songs and packed them to maximum capacity."

-CVLT Nation

"Combining a low end reminiscent of High on Fire and the crustiest of crusti-punk attitude and fervor, and hailing from C Rage Records cragerecords.bandcamp.com, today's filth is the self-titled "Recluse" by Recluse (NOLA) www.facebook.com/reclusenola/

Clocking in at a nasty 8 minutes, Recluse simply throws you down a flight of stairs on their new self-titled. It's simple, violent, and super fun; distilled down to the absolute basics of what a band needs, they ;jump headlong into your headphones with both feet forward. Punk and metallic noise combine perfectly, ranging from Power Violence to Crust Punk, Noise to Thrash Punk, it's quite the thrill ride packed into a meager runtime. Recluse plays fast, with a heavy bass forward attack backed by some hellaciously fast drum work. Packed on top, and by far the most aggro of the lot, is the vocals, an eviscerating, stripped-tendon affair that makes my throat ache as it just gets faster and more nasty as the album goes.

Their vinyl package, courtesy of C Rage Records, is also solid. The album feels solid, great heft and the material feels absolute rock solid, and the sound comes out just as magnificently volatile as it does in digital form. If your a wax fiend, Recluse would be a perfect album to have for impromptu tort- LISTENING sessions for your friends!

Overall, a great record, full of energy and the spirit of heavy music that shows we haven't given it up yet. Coupled with a record cover that perfectly captures the essence of their approach, it's exceedingly well rounded, well produced, and indicates a bright future for these guys to create some breathing room for them to settle into.

Find Recluse @ recluse504.bandcamp.com/album/recluse, so you can support your love of pure music mayhem! (it's $2.99 for the digital, you have no excuse.)"-Hunter Young (writer for Sludgelord, etc.)
